ReplyDeleteThat is a very troubling issue. So many stories, you want to go on longer (or foevar); but if they do then there's nothing else. I am very biased on this one... really want to finish and get at stuuuffff and I feel terrible for that.

Yeah, there was a another story before the last chapter of Anipyu!. I feel a bit less guilty about this intermission because of it...

It's nice that Ueda Yuu is next. Nekogen and Higashiyama Shou should also get bumped the fuck up! They're the most godlike artist of the bunch, imo. Speaking of Higashiyama, on the waiting for edits page, you only mention Addiction. Would uglicus be interested in finishing translation for the entire "Japanese Preteen Suite" tank? Only three of the stories have been translated by Sayo, and I don't believe he has plans to finish. I would be most appreciative, as Higashiyama Shou is one of the gods of loli.
ReplyDeleteAlso, (looking at the waiting page) the Index/Railgun doujin would be good to bump as well. Railgun has been pretty popular (and the goggles on Misaka Imouto's head are always there to signify the clones from the real, goggle-less Misaka). I really hope that Uglicus is very familiar with the source material on this though, since the Misaka Imoutos' unique speaking patterns are often mistranslated. It would be important for you to briefly brush up on the manga or anime before editing as well, so that you don't accidentally mess up the speech patterns when grammar checking. The short of it is the clones all talk as if they're narrating for themselves in third person. It's an odd, but endearing thing.

I like Higashiyama Show well enough, but it will probably be a very long time before I try to translate any more (as in years and years and possibly nevers). Addiction was beyond me, really. I was trying to get it done quickly, and it still took many times as long as other stories. It isn't done either. As I have been telling Editor, what little effort I have put into rechecking it has revealed many small but critical mistakes (significantly altering the meaning) that I can only assume I made because my brain was fried from hours of looking up 4000 different things for each bubble.

ReplyDeleteAfter I posted the doujin there, I was talking to Uglicus about my irrational hatred of anime and asked him what the best anime was ('irrational' and 'hatred' are slight embellishments). After a few days of prolific recommendations and warnings, he got me watching 'Magical Index'. It... wasn't bad. Some of it was a wee bit preposterous and nonsensical.
Then I watched 'Scientific Railgun' and fuck yeah I love that show. Easily topped 'Index' in just about every way (missed the exotic Christianity and that scene where the loli-maid rides the robot). I've yet to get into the manga, but definitely plan to; heard it's drawn by that 'Pretty Neighbour' guy?
So I would probably be interested in a 'Railgun' doujin, but... that whole 'Sisters' thing still weirds me out. Will get around to it. Can't be much longer, right?
The Nekogen story I want to save for Christmas. Don't know if I can wait that long, we'll see.
And after comparing the scans for 'Addiction' I wanted to jump right in there but there's just so much to do that hasn't already been done. I won't put it off when I get there, but I cannot do it sooner. Ethically.

I have missed adding stuff. Could've done 'condom' and 'orgy' but they're fairly self evident... The joke for 'condum?' is that they're nearly non-existant in hentai. More often appearing en masse from nowhere after the sex which sends the horrible message that condoms are effective retroactively (fine example of this in the Asagi chapter of 'Pretty Neighbour' aw yeah...).
Could I differentiate between a balanced orgy and a one-dude-loads-of-chicks type thing? Is there a term for that beyond 'reverse gangbang' which sounds dumb and suggests (to me)... well, see the last page of 'Census'.

ReplyDeleteEditor: Lol, somehow I'm not surprised in the least that you loved Railgun more than Index. The manga and anime don't differ too much, other than the manga just being further along. Both Index and Railgun touch on the sisters arc, so it's a pretty significant event. Good shit that you're getting into it though. I approve! Just wait till Last Order is introduced~ She makes my heart stop (in a good way).
