Includes two very tiny changes to the first and last pages of 5.5 (my shitty editing), otherwise identical to the previous big batch and the last two chapters. ReplyDeleteIt was broadcast in cropped 4:3. The first five episodes or so were re-subbed with the disk rip, then they ran out... I think it's possible to rip subtitles from one .mkv and paste 'em onto another, but none of these 'demuxers' seem to work for me.
At this point, I could just wait for the proper localization. Timing, lol...

Naw, this is actually from two tanks. It's still at least fifty pages shy of a full tank (lol), the filesize is just huge as fuck 'cause I don't like compressing.
Should I try to save 'em smaller? A good deal of that is just a safety net, giving me lots of space before noticeable distortions occur... I could cut the filesize down quite a bit, but it would mean re-checking each page for problems, maybe missing some...

I don't get the VLC hate. What is it just subtitle issues? I had that problem with two files last year.
VLC also renders crap really poorly, for one scaling is fugly as hell they need to learn to put in some decent interpolation. If you use windows why not just use cccp, that more or less works flawlessly on windows. It won't stop you from keeping VLC for real media or whatever it is you need from it that cccp doesnt cover.
ReplyDeleteFew months back, hoping for better 720p, I did try MPC with CCCP (which I used pre-VLC back in, like, '99BC) but couldn't get anything to run well with it. Fucked around with it for a while, made things worse, gave up.

Or else it just made me laugh at 5AM. Probably that, yeah.
There is one thing that often causes a problem with MPC. The default renderer choice sometimes doesn't work, try going to Options\Playback\Output and picking Haali renderer for the directshow video output.
ReplyDeleteHuh. That did fix a few comical issues that I now wish I'd taken screenshots of, though there's still no subtitles, audio's terribly out of sync, and the K-on! 720 .mp4s give me a black screen.
ReplyDeleteWorst of all though, this Railgun 720 .mkv is now playing with a smooth framerate ('worst' because it compels me to look into fixing the other things).
Man, I was content. Obsessive as I am about still images, I was quite satisfied by this video quality. Shit, I could quite easily just watch stuff on my TV but I like watching a few episodes of something nice, in bed, on a tiny screen resting on my stomach, before going to sleep...
Also fuckdamn I love Railgun. :D
First scene of that last episode is fucking heartbreaking, tho...
Hmm well I have experienced sync issues on previous setups that were due to driver conflicts, but haven't had to deal with that in a very long time.
ReplyDeleteAs for subs, depending on the subber they may have set the default subtitle stream to no subs, try checking what its set to in the haali media splitter (right click the tray icon). May have to pick a different subtitle set.
I watch everything on my computer so getting quality playback on it is pretty important for me. The only time I find myself watching TV is when I'm wasting time making/eating food or dealing with the laundry. Feels like everything on TV is some variation of crime investigation drama....
Yeah more railgun would be great, don't quite remember anything heartbreaking though. Cept the lack of more yuri goodness =)

Kinda felt torn when she goes crazy bitch, on one hand kinda wanna give her a hug on the other hand kinda wanna tie her up and have my way with her. But I kid, the only older character that does it for me in the show is Kiyama with her cute worn out look.
A fun show though, and best of all they kept the presence of touma? (index guy) to a minimum.
