So I think I can see where this story's going at this point, call it a hunch... Here we see the characters wrestling with the awkward events of last chapter for about two pages before deciding to do some more.
Still no intercourse. Though they touch each other in this one, and do a little something else towards the end...

I will defend fanfiction on principle.

I certainly agree that not all fanfiction is bad, heck, not all BAD FANFICTION is bad! Can you imagine what our life would be without such sublime works of art as Master Squirrelking's magnum opus Halflife: Fullife Consequences?!

ReplyDeleteIt was even kinda fetish-y; not fetishes I regularly enjoy, it just seemed to fit the characters.
Etna was getting ready for bed, and Laharl ordered her to wait outside his bedroom door, back turned, while he masturbated and she pretended not to notice. Also she was brushing her teeth, and this was somehow hot (I was surprised).
Then Flonne taught Laharl about love by raping him in his sleep.
I got halfway through the third chapter (which was to defuse the fetishyness with a good ol' threesome) when the new PSP game came out and I stopped. Unfinished, unpublished, secret shame I swear was one of the good ones.
Rewrites and fanfics are hardly comparable: Any "fanfic" is essentially a "doujinshi" in text form (going by the generally accepted definition), while a rewrite is akin to a porn mag vandalized with a permanent marker.

As an average Joe, when searching for some wank material with pretty pictures, you generally don't mind if it's in Japanese -- when you don't understand the language and can't even decipher the writing system, it's easy to ignore the funny squiggles around the artwork and let your imagination fill in the blanks. But with rewrites it's rather difficult to ignore the incongruous scribblings that jump at you from every speech bubble, especially if you have any kind of aesthetic sense.
And if one lacks the means of identifying the original work mutilated in such a manner the experience can be rather stressful.
If you must publish a rewrite please indicate the source material, providing as much information as possible.

Just wanted to say that you shouldn't feel much shame from simply writing fan fiction, it's the people that parade their fanfics like some kind of unrecognized literary gems who should go stand in a corner.
If you prefer to read your porn rather than than ogle it, that's fine with me, Madam! *nudge nudge, wink wink*
P.S. Also that setup you've mentioned? Better than 98% of hentai douji plots.

ReplyDeleteBut my position is just, y'know, they mean well. Probably. And there are far worse things they could be getting up to on the internet.
Even if they are scrawling creepy-ass stories over Hentai Shakespeare only for the glory, no regard for the original author, and they get all bitchy when you call them on it, they could turn out to be pretty nice guys in real life. Maybe? Olddog must be pushing sixty, he doesn't need internet people yelling at him.
An' yeah, I do like reading porns. :D
